Research Assistant

Shrishailya Chavan is a graduate student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is pursuing a Master’s in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering. Before joining WPI, he completed his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT), India. His work incorporates practical usage of concepts from Deep Learning, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision, and its application for solving real-world challenges. His research objective is to proactively analyze practical solutions and provide out of the box innovative designs for robotic systems. Moreover, he always likes to provide precise and unique perspectives to improve solutions.

Under the guidance of Prof. Nancy Ma and Prof. Fabricio Murai, he is currently involved in a project which aims to classify thermal anomalies using deep learning and Vision Transformers (ViT). In this study, his primary responsibility is to consolidate thermographic data for building enclosures and develop a method to better label them.
